Wildcats try for second world record

Another world record may be in store for the Logan-Rogersville school district…

Students from elementary school through high school gathered last week at the high school football stadium to play the world’s largest game of follow-the-leader. The previous record was 768, which LR event organizers are sure they’ve beat with participation from over 2,500 Wildcat students and staff.

This year’s seniors at Logan-Rogersville were a part of the current record for the largest game of duck-duck-goose, which was set in 2011 when the district facilitated 2,135 participants for a 15 minute game – enough to break the previous record.

The results are unofficial until the months-long certification process is completed. Should the record be broken, this will be the second world record in the Guinness Book of World Records for Loogan-Rogersville.

"This year's seniors were in Kindergarten then and wanted to set another world record before they graduated. Today, LR attempted to set the Guinness World Record for the largest game of Follow the Leader," a representative of the District said. "The previous record of 768 was set in 2015. The number we are submitting to Guinness World Records is 2,362. We will submit all of our evidence to Guinness and await final approval, which may take several months."
