Is Fido starting to look a bit dirty, but you don’t have time to clean them up? What if there was a way to get your dog clean while also helping a good cause? Consider registering for the Doggy Bath Fundraiser hosted by the Marshfield High School Kim Ecology 2 Class.
The fundraiser will occur at 236 Big Timber Rd on Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“Last year, we hosted the event in December; even though it was frigid, we had a great turnout,” said Fields.
The proceeds from the doggy bath will go towards the Ecology 2 Class annual field trip, which will be taking ten seniors to Florida on Feb. 2. The one-week trip will include going to Marco Island, visiting the Everglades, volunteering at a Sea Turtle Hospital, participating in eco-tours, and more. The trip will focus on environmental issues, local conservation, education, and, of course, unique experiences.
This trip is part of Field’s ongoing teaching, where she is changing how students learn about Environmental Science in a more direct, hands-on approach as long as all the students can go. The cost is $1,000 per student; while the class has done a garage sale and received donations, the hope is the dog bath will raise the rest of what they need.
Those waiting to bring their best dog friends to get a wash are reminded to fill out a form, which can be found by scanning the QR code.
A few other reminders include that the class will not be taking any aggressive dogs. Dogs must also be on a leash at all times and not have any fleas or ticks.
Admission for the fundraiser is a donation of any value, and bandanas will be given to the dogs while the supply lasts.
“We are excited about the trip and encourage everyone to come out,” said Fields.
